VANTAPE #1

I made my first mixtape, and the first tape made exclusively for bumpin' in my van.

A:
1. Lizzy Mercier Descloux - Herpes Simplex <-Has a weird intro sample, and a good build-up.

2. Times New Viking - Pagan Eyes <-This band was made to be listened to on tape (well, vinyl probably, but it still sounds awesome).

3. 1994! - Get Off Our Weed You Pussies <- Fast math rock awesomeness.

4. X-Ray Spex - Identity <-Starting off with the title of the song being yelled out, it goes well after the abrupt end of the song before. Also the sax rules.

5. Matt & Kim - 5K <-The energetic feel of this song seemed to go well.

6. Erase Errata - Ca. Viewing <-Similar in tempo to the previous song, but a lot weirder. It kinda falls apart into dissonance in the end, which leads well into the next song.

7. Sonic Youth - 100% <-Has a tense noise intro that feels like it's picking up the pieces of the last song, a bit.

8. SEAHOUSE - 2012 <-Back to the upbeat, triumphant feel of 5K. Plus I love this song.

9. Lake - Oh, The Places We'll Go <-Chilling a bit, though it's not really any slower. Pure pleasantness.

10. The Microphones - Monsters <-A really weird, kind of sad, kind of cute old Microphones song with a lot of tones.

11. Múm - K/Hálft Óhljóð <-I kinda just shoved this one in because I had extra space. It cuts off at the end of the side, but I think that kinda adds to the ethereal effect.

B:
12. Hall & Oates - Rich Girl <-I'm sure this song will make any drive a lot more awesome.

13. Kickball - Orion <-Amazing song. I think it fits the mood of the side thus far.

14. Talbot Tagora - Replacing the Northwest <-The one where Mark downstrokes and Chris upstrokes the same chord. Works well with the cliffhanger ending of Orion.

15. Ponytail - Celebrate the Body Electric (It Came from an Angel) <-Epically energetic.

16. Hella - Been a Long Time Cousin <-After getting pumped from Ponytail, one may need to spazz out.

17. Foot Village - Protective Nourishment <-Drum overlords. Drum overload.

18. Gowns - Fake July <-Keeps the tension, but in a calm way.

19. Thanksgiving - Come on New World <-A somber end.
